Tallahassee, FL-Crime scene tape and police cars filled the busy intersection of Apalachee Parkway and Magnolia Drive early Wednesday morning.

The body of a man was found inside a gold car. Police discovered it after they were originally brought out for a disturbance involving two vehicles in a motel parking lot.

"Those two vehicles left the parking lot at a high rate of speed, several minutes later, one to two minutes later, we received another phone call about a car parked the wrong way on Magnolia Drive," said Officer David Northway, spokesman for the Tallahassee Police Department.

Police haven't identified the man or figured out how he died. But they are ruling the death a homicide. According to police, it's the City's second of the year.

The news had some shoppers at a popular strip mall just across the street feeling uneasy.

"I'm just shook up. I come here shopping all the time and I'm just shocked," said Jacqueline Byrd.

Red light cameras line intersection where the crime occurred and could be an important tool investigators use to piece together this case.

"Anything that's going to be of evidentiary value, the surveillance cameras in the area, because that is a heavily populated area, red light cameras, all of those things will be looked at," said Northway.

A City Spokeswoman says the cameras are always rolling and police have used them in the past to investigate crimes.

But it's unclear what if any usable evidence may be on these cameras.

Tallahassee, FL - Our cameras were the first on the scene at the corner of Magnolia Drive and Apalachee Parkway. The Tallahassee Police Department was called about a loud disturbance around 2:45 am at the nearby Motel 6.

Minutes later two cars left the parking lot. Officials were called out to a disabled vehicle, and when they arrived, officers found a Nissan Maxima on Magnolia Drive with a man dead inside.

Dave Northway, Tallahassee Police Department: "We do believe at this point that the two calls are connected. There was a disturbance at the Motel 6. They came the vehicle traveled here and this is where unfortunately the person has died."

Police are hoping because it's a busy intersection someone may have seen something. If you have any information you're asked to call 850-891-4200.

WCTV has a reporter investigating and we'll bring you more tonight on Eyewitness News.
