Tallahassee, FL - The Tallahassee Urban League wasn't kidding around, calling a soiree Friday night, the 'event of the year.'

Organizers Friday celebrated the 44th anniversary of the local chapter at their 43rd annual dinner meeting.

In the crowd were many notable faces and from out of town, such as the national president of the Urban League.

There was food, music, speeches and awards given out to a couple of WCTV alums, including Frank Ranicky.

Lots of people went out to show support.

"I think they are saying to me and the community that the Urban League is important and we are making a difference and they want to be a part of that, so they are here tonight to show that," said Ernest Ferrell, president of the Tallahassee Urban League.

Earlier in day, the organization cut the ribbon on its newly renovated office building on Old Bainbridge Road.
