Tallahassee Woman Arrested for False Voter Information

A Tallahassee woman found herself behind bars after trying to register to vote.

55-year-old Mary Otley was arrested over the weekend accused of submitting false voter information.

She claims it was all a big misunderstanding and that election had told her that she was eligible to vote.

The problem stems from Otley being a convicted felon from years ago.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement says that when she filed for an application to vote, Otley checked off that she had never been convicted.

She is facing two counts of submitting false voter information, which is considered a 3rd degree felony.

Otley was released from jail on her own recognizance.
