Tallahassee Youth Capture Dizzy Dean World Series Title

There's a new national championship team in Tallahassee and it's not Florida State's football squad.

The Myers Park All Star 11 and under baseball team captured the Dizzy Dean World Series Championship at a tournament in Southaven, Mississippi.

The tournament included 14 regional champions.

The Myers Park team won five games and only lost once.

The group of ten boys had to beat the Georgia state champions twice to win the title.

They won the final game 12-11.

The last out came while the Georgia team had runners on second and third base.

"We got that final out everybody jumped and ran and hugged our pitcher and we hugged the kid who made the play, we were just going crazy, it was so much fun," said catcher and third baseman Blake Dincman.

"At the end of the day, it comes down to kids playing the game," said Manager Tolga Dincman. "We can say anything we want about strategy, but it comes down to hitting and catching the ball," he said.

The team had to win a tournament to become Florida's state champions before qualifying for the Dizzy Dean World Series at the complex near Memphis, Tennessee.
