On July 13, 2012, the Tallahassee Police Department was recognized in Orlando by the Florida Department of Transportation Law Enforcement Liaison Program for its dedication to Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Enforcement and overall Traffic Safety in 2011.
The Tallahassee Police Department placed first in the Florida Law Enforcement Challenge.This challenge is based on education and enforcement efforts encompassing all aspects of traffic safety. Twenty-two agencies of similar size were involved in the challenge.
In addition the Tallahassee Police Department placed second in the DUI Challenge out of 14 Florida agencies of similar size. This challenge is based on DUI enforcement and education efforts that reduce the number of alcohol-related crashes and fatalities. As part of the award, the Tallahassee Police Department also received points through the Law Enforcement Liaison Program which can be redeemed for traffic safety equipment.
“TPD’s DUI program is second to none and our officers take pride in keeping Tallahassee’s citizens safe from drunk drivers,” said Police Chief Dennis Jones.
