Tallahassee's Feline Adoption Weekend Event

By: City of Tallahassee (Talgov.com)
February 7, 2013

This Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 9-10, the Animal Service Center is celebrating love with a feline adoption event. There will be waived adoption fees on cats and kittens of all ages. Swing by the ASC from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday or from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday to find your newest furry family member.

All cats adopted through the ASC are micro-chipped, vaccinated, collared (with an ID tag) and many are already spayed or neutered. If the cat/kitten you'd like to adopt has not been fixed, a $50 deposit (fully refundable with proof of surgery) will be required.

If you’re concerned about finding the right feline fit for your family, the ASC's staff can help answer questions about temperaments and personalities in order to help make the best possible match with potential adopters. Remember to bring your cat carrier with you to ensure a safe ride home for all.

Cats make wonderful companions. They are playful, affectionate, independent, self-cleaning animals that can reduce your blood pressure and keep you smiling with their antics.

They also don't need to be housebroken, as using the litter box comes naturally to them. Cats are good indoor pets that don't need a lot of space to thrive, making them perfect for apartments and smaller homes. Taking care of a cat is also a great way to help teach children humane values and responsibility.

The Tallahassee-Leon Community Animal Service Center is operated and maintained by the City's Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs Department. For more information on the Animal Service Center and to view animals that are currently available for adoption, please visit Talgov.com/Animals.
