TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -- Deputies have charged a Tampa Police Athletic League employee with downloading child pornography.
The Tampa Police Department reports 50-year-old Marcos Santiago was arrested at his home Wednesday.
Detectives say they learned Santiago was possibly downloading child pornography on his home computer in late July. On Wednesday, they executed a search warrant at Santiago's Tampa home. When police entered his house, he was reportedly in the process of downloading child pornography.
Santiago was an employee of the Tampa Police Athletic League, a non-profit organization that provides afterschool and summer programs for children.
The organization immediately fired Santiago after his arrest. Police said there is no indication Santiago had inappropriate contact with the children.
Police said he went through went through a background check for the job and has no criminal record.
