TaxWatch Turkeys

Tallahassee, FL -- April 13, 2012 --

The Florida Taxwatch veto list is wide-ranging. It includes aviation projects, a bus project, and a science and technology building for a community college. Taxwatch defines a turkey worthy of veto something that might be good public policy but didn't go through the proper process.

There are 23 local water projects, totaling 19 million dollars, on the suggested veto list.

The creation of a twelfth state university by splitting off the Lakeland branch campus of the University of South Florida is not on the turkey list. That's because it had all the right hearings, but Taxwatch says it is still bad public policy.

The biggest single item on the recommended veto list is fourteen million for a Public Safety institute. Next was ten million for economic development on the Space coast. Both projects are in the Senate President's district and demonstrate the clout presiding officers can wield.

Last year, Governor Scott set a record when he vetoed over six hundred million dollars in spending. This year he's already said there will be fewer vetoes, in part because lawmakers did a better job of allocating funds.

Wow. My head is spinning try to deal with the irony of the husband of the chief paycheck thief writing this article. If there has ever been a legislator that is wasting taxpayer funds to draw a paycheck, it is this guy's wife. How overwhelmingly ironic.

The tax watch turkeys need to be watched as well because they also have an agenda. Their things don't make the list.

Heres an idea take all that taxwatch turkey money and put it to good use. Give the State workers a cost of living increase with that money. No increase in 6 years and counting. Legislature and the Governor should be ashamed of themselves in the spend money frivalously instead of helping the state workers be able to pay their bills and buy gas to get to their low paying job. YOU NEED TO TAKE CARE OF WHO IS MINDING THE STORE TRICKY RICKY AND HIS LEGISLATIVE SHEEP.

Its go along to get along time. Here is where the gov rewards the legislators for being good little boys and passing his agenda. The people, as always, will get screwed.

Now that Scott has learned to play politics with the big boys, don't be surprised if some pet projects miss the veto pen. He is a different Governor this session. It only took a year for him to realize that he had to make deals with Legislators to get what he wanted on his agenda.

Let`s see just how many vetos the average citizen programs get and how few vetos are made to increasing departments, programs, tax cuts and spending the directly improves those who are major Republican contributors.
