Tallahassee, Florida-Some local teens are learning new habits and ways to stop the violence.

Helping-Hand2 hosted its inaugural Teen Violence Prevention Summit.

About 40 teens between the ages of 14 and 18 from Duval and Leon Counties participated in the event.

The summit focused on ways to reduce violence among teens who are in high risk environments.

"We wanted to bring the kids together and kind of sit down and talk about what we can do as social service agencies, state employees and drug treatment facility programs to try and help facilitate prevention efforts," says Mario Richardson of Helping-Hand2.

The children heard from several guest speak who had an anti-violence message. They also took part in some outdoor activities.

The group says it wants to see the summit become an annual event.
