Tallahassee, FL - On February 14, 2013 a blog written by Renee Miller about her experience going undercover at The Shelter in Tallahassee went viral across the internet and social media websites. Since then, she says she has received personal attacks on her family, business and church. According to Miller, "people are calling and hanging up, just breathing into the phone from blocked numbers. People have put things on the rants and raves section of Craig's List that I deserve whatever happens." She also says “It makes me feel uncomfortable and second guessing if I made the right choice bringing some things to light."

The Millers have 4 children and following the recent threats have contacted law enforcement to make sure their family is safe. Miller says "we even now have police protection at our house, they are coming by twice a day for the next 2 weeks to make sure that our home while we are away is okay and also why we are there."

Despite the recent threats, miller says she's also received a lot of positive feedback. Miller says "I have hundreds of voicemails, emails, Facebook comments of people thanking me for putting it out there and shining the light and so many people have come by City Walk and thanked us."

After all is said and done, Miller says her goal is to continue to help the local homeless population any way she can and admits "I really don't regret what I've done, even though it is kind of scary at this point, so many people their lives have been changed and they're going to have better treatment now and they know that they have a voice."

Renee Miller and her husband own City Walk Urban Mission which is a thrift store that sells items donated from the community. 100 percent of the proceeds go back to the homeless for things like food, clothing and even furniture for those who are able to get back on their feet.
