Thomas County, GA - It’s clear what a difference 24 hours make when you compare the levels of the Ochlockonee River from yesterday and today.

WCTV Eyewitness News took a look at the Ochlockonee River in the area that runs along Egg and Butter Road North.

Yesterday around 5:00pm, the water was hitting about three feet lower than today at 5:00pm.

In some areas the water has actually started to creep over onto the road.

Crews aren't letting any vehicles pass through, but that hasn't stopped folks from coming down to check out the scene, many of them taking pictures and looking on in disbelief.

Emergency crews in Thomas County say they've been monitoring the levels all day and say things seem to be under control for now.

However, other parts of our area are preparing for the worse if the Ochlockonee does flood.
