"We had four people in jail within an hour and a half of the shooting," said Tift County Sheriff Gene Scarbrough.
On Wednesday, the Tift County Sheriff's Office and the Omega Police Department responded to a call of a person being shot in Tift County. Sheriff Gene Scarbrough held a press conference Friday and says a citizen provided a description of the suspects white Chevrolet Impala that led to the arrests.
"We've arrested 5 individuals for the murder of the individual down in Omega," said Scarbrough.
Four of the five that were arrested are from Thomasville. Trevon Rushton, Kelly Warren, Edwin Williams and Carrington Hollis. Ronadarin Jones is from Omega. All are being charged with murder and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
The investigation has been turned over the Georgia Bureau of Investigations and no further information is being released at this time.
"To continue working with the Sheriff's office, to continue working on our case, to continue the interviews, to continue the searches if that is warranted and probable causes there, and to complete our case and turn it over to the district attorneys office," said Kim Baker of the GBI.
Scarbrough says it's because of the help of the community that these arrests were made so quickly.
"I mentioned the fact that we had a citizen that witnessed some of the events that went on and she was a trooper."
The victim is identified as 19-year-old Tyler Johnson who died after being life-flighted to the hospital.

Tift County Sheriff Gene Scarbrough reported that on January 22, 2014, just before noon, Tift County Sheriff’s deputies and the Omega Police Department responded to a call of a person being shot in Omega at 1566 Georgia Avenue.
He said officers located the victim inside the residence with a gunshot wound.
He said that Tift County EMS also responded to the residence. He said that the victim Tyler Antwan Johnson age 19 of 1566 Georgia Avenue Omega died later in the afternoon.
The Sheriff said a citizen provided a description of the suspects and vehicle to officers.
He said this information was broadcast to officers, and within minutes, Georgia DNR Ranger Greg Wade spotted a vehicle matching the description on Ty Ty Omega Road.
He said Wade called for assistance. Deputies responded to his location and were able to stop the vehicle. Suspects matching the descriptions given were taken into custody.
The Sheriff said the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was asked to handle the investigation with his department assisting.
He said agents and investigators worked through the afternoon and into the early morning hours of Thursday processing the crime scene, interviewing citizens in the area, processing the suspect vehicle and interviewing suspects.
Scarbrough said the following people who were occupants of the suspect vehicle were taken into custody following the vehicle stop:
All of the suspects are charged with murder and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
Sheriff Scarbrough said with the cooperation and assistance of citizens of the neighborhood, Tift E911, Omega Police Department, DNR, GBI, and his department, arrests were made quickly.
He commended all persons and agencies involved.
