Valdosta, GA - Despite the gloomy weather, City officials say thousands of people visited Downtown Valdosta for food, music, and even Santa Claus over the weekend.

Instead of having vendors this year, the City encouraged downtown businesses to stay open and welcome visitors.

With only 15 days until Christmas, officials say they hope citizens will continue to shop Valdosta.

"We had a great day with our holiday festivities. Business was great downtown. The citizens enjoyed the events, especially the Snow Zone and the parade. We encourage everyone to come downtown and shop Downtown Valdosta this season", says Ellen Hill, Valdosta Main Street Program Coordinator.

The City of Valdosta announced it's window decorating contest winners on Monday, with first place going to Jessie's Eats and Treats, second place to City Market, and third place to The Flower Gallery.
