Power Restored for thousands of Gadsden, Leon Co. Residents

Power is restored across Leon and Gadsden County after a dump truck took down a power pole.

The accident happened around one o'clock this afternoon on highway 90 in Midway.

A dump truck traveling east bound crossed the median and into US 90 west bound only to crash into a power pole that's fell in the middle of the road.

Traffic on US 90 westbound was diverted while more than 3,000 Talquin Electric customers in Gadsden Leon & Wakulla County were without power.

The driver of the truck has been confirmed as 34-year-old Ryan Davis.
He was transported to Tallahassee Memorial with minor injuries.

The outage in the Midway area could be an extended outage lasting several hours so medical accounts should make arrangements if needed to go to a location with power.

Talquin currently is experiencing a wide spread outage due to a concrete transmission pole that is currently down and lying across Highway 90 in Midway. Duke Energy and Talquin are aware of the situation and everything is being done to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.

There are currently 3,393 Members served by the Brickyard Substation in the Midway area without power. Crews are working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible

MIDWAY, Fla. -- Lanes are closed and thousands are without power after an accident that downed a power pole in Gadsden County.

A dump truck was driving eastbound on US-90, crossed the median and hit the pole shortly after 1 p.m. Westbound lanes of US-90 are completely closed and there has been no estimate on when they might re-open.

According to Talquin Electric there are 2,411 customers in Gadsden County and 965 customers in Leon County without power.
