Three people were arrested Thursday night in Lowndes County for manufacturing methamphetamine in Hahira.

The Sheriff's office says the bust came after neighbors reported suspicious activity.

Neighbors say they noticed something wasn't right at the home on Nisen Circle. After an investigation, authorities say they knew they'd found a meth lab.

The Sheriff's Office says 30-year-old Jennifer Lee, 39-year-old Sylvester Fender, and 34-year-old Benjamin Parrish were arrested for manufacturing, possessing, and trafficking meth, possession of items used to manufacture meth, obstructing an officer, and manufacturing meth in the presence of children.

They say the suspects fled when deputies arrived, leaving behind a juvenile who was in the home while the drugs were being cooked.

Neighbors say they had no idea this was going on, and the area is typically pretty quiet... until deputies arrived.

"It sounded like somebody was beating something, like a trailer, or something was being beaten. Then I saw the cop lights; all the lights, and I was like 'wow, what is that', so I ran out here, and that's when I saw all the cops," said Candy Beck, neighbor.

"Well, meth is growing, it's certainly increasing in popularity. We are increasing our efforts to combat that. And again, this is just the perfect example of where neighbors can do the right thing an contact local law enforcement and allow them to act upon it, get these people off the street," said Lt. Stryde Jones, Lowndes County Sheriff's Office.

Jones says the suspects are currently here in the Lowndes County Jail.

The child is in the custody of a family member.

May 9, 2014 - 10am

On Thursday evening, around 9:30 investigators from the Special Operations Division of the Sheriff’s Office went to 5905 Nisen Circle in response to citizen complaints of drug activity. When the investigators approached the home, three of the persons inside, including an eleven {11} year old juvenile, fled into the nearby wooded area. Investigators detained the other occupants of the home and discovered an active Methamphetamine lab inside.

A Sheriff’s Office canine unit responded to the scene and soon Jennifer Lee and the eleven year old child were located. The mother of the child continued to flee and was not located.

Prior to any extensive search fans were set up in order to ventilate the toxic fumes from the home that was being emitted by the lab. Once rendered safe, a thorough search of the home was conducted and a quantity of methamphetamine was recovered in addition to scales, packaging materials and other items used in the manufacturing of Methamphetamine. The active lab was dismantled by investigators from the Sheriff’s Office who have been specially trained in the mediation of such labs.

Investigators arrested Jennifer Lee, who is also known as Jennifer Delk, Sylvester Fender and Benjamin Parrish. Family members of the child were contacted and took custody of the child. The arrested persons were taken to the Lowndes County Jail and booked on the listed charges. They will appear in the Lowndes County Magistrate Court this afternoon for an arraignment hearing where a bond will be considered. Arrest warrants will also be sought for the mother of the child, who has not yet been arrested. Her identity is being withheld pending the issuance of those warrants.
