On Tuesday afternoon, around 3:00 a deputy on patrol noticed three individuals exit a wooded area near Rolling Pine Drive in Lake Park. The deputy stopped and attempted to talk with the persons but they turned and fled back into the woods. Additional deputies responded to the area and the three were captured a short distance away.

A Sheriff’s Office canine unit also responded and assisted with retracing the route that the persons had been which resulted in the discovery of a number of firearms, electronics and other items that were wrapped in a bed comforter that had been stashed. During additional investigation by the deputies they discovered the residence at 4531 Water Oaks Trail had been burglarized. The homeowner was contacted and notified of the discovery.

The three persons, Daniel Edington, Triston Jernigan and Andres Gonzalez were all arrested and transported to the Criminal Investigation Division where they were interviewed by investigators. Through these interviews the group’s involvement in additional crimes has been identified and those investigations are ongoing. Additional charges will be made in the near future.

Sheriff Prine commended the actions of Deputy David Osteen, Deputy Dustin Icard and Deputy Martin Lanier who were alert and noticed these persons as suspicious and immediately acted and made the arrest. “To make these arrests and recover the property in such a prompt manner is outstanding work” said Sheriff Prine.
