Tallahassee, FL - It wasn't the wake up call people living at the London Town apartments in Tallahassee wanted.

"I was just sleeping and all I heard was this really loud boom! I didn't know if it was a car accident because the roads were real slick," said neighbor Kasie Womble.

The Tallahassee Fire Department responded at around 6 a.m. to the scene on North Meridian rd. A tree had fallen because of the torrential wind and rain and completely destroyed a second floor apartment.

The tree fell through the bedroom while a couple was asleep in bed. Amazingly, the man and woman were not hurt, but were visibly shaken up after the ordeal.

A tree service had to come out to remove the massive trunk from the side of the building. A neighbor's car was trapped underneath the tree and suffered some damage, but many on scene were relieved that there were no injuries and were ready to start picking up the pieces.

"From here it's just damage control, we'll clean it up, we'll see what needs to be repaird, and we'll fix it up ASAP to get them back into their apartment," said Noel Nash. Nash is one of the supervisors for TriCon Builders, the company that was brought in to clean up the ruined apartment.

London Town apartments arranged for movers to gather the couple's belongings and are in the process of moving them into another apartment.
