Thomasville, GA- The driver of a car who witnessed a fatal Christmas Eve wreck has turned himself in.
Sharron Thompson, 19, has been charged with failure to stop to render aid and failure to report an accident with injury.
According to Georgia State Patrol, Thompson's car was seen speeding along side 24-year-old Michael Bevard and 28-year-old Damian Brown early Monday morning.
Bevard lost control of his vehicle and slammed into a tree along South Pinetree Boulevard in Thomasville.
Bevard and Brown both died.
Troopers say Thompson was friends with the two men.
Thomasville, GA- Friends and family members stood in disbelief, as they viewed the spot where their two loved-ones lost their lives.
24-year-old Michael Bevard and 28-year-old Damian Brown were both killed early Monday morning, when their car hit a tree along South Pinetree Blvd. in Thomasville.
"He was a real good man. A family man, you know, everybody loved him," said Bevard's friend, Castarvis Thomas.
According to the Thomas County Sheriff's Office, a deputy spotted Bevard's car and another vehicle speeding just minutes before the crash. By the time the deputy caught up with them, it was too late.
"It's tragic," said Capt. Steve Jones with the Thomas County Sheriff's Office. "It's preventable, is what's so sad about it. It's just one of those things, people don't realize when you're traveling that fast in a vehicle, you have very little control."
Friends say just days before his death, Bevard helped organize an event to help collect Christmas presents for those in need. Thomas says that's just the type of person he was.
Friends also say that both men had so much to look forward to in life, and will be missed greatly.
Georgia State Patrol and the Thomas Co. Sheriff's Office are working the case and would like to talk to the driver of the other vehicle that was seen before the crash.
