Tallahassee, FL - Two local mothers are turning their grief into giving.

Tina McElhenny and Cheryl Moeller are giving out back packs stuffed with school supplies in honor of their sons who both died in 2002.

Employees from schools in the Big Bend stopped by the 4th Quarter Bar and Grille in Tallahassee to pick up backpacks Wednesday afternoon.

This is the eleventh year the women have held the backpack giveaway.

One parent, Nicole Roberts says, "It's a huge blessing that there's a foundation like this that's willing to do this for a lot of kids. For parents, just to help out in these rough times; especially during the summertime, how busy everybody is in camps. We would always wait until the last minute. But, with them, it's been a huge blessing."

There were 118 donated backpacks, with schools getting 12 a piece. The organizers say last year they gave out more than 300.

McElhenny's son, Kris, was killed in a motorcycle crash at the age of 18 on May 8, 2002.

Moeller's 6-year-old son was killed when a marble slab fell on top of him on February 1, 2002.
