Two South Georgia Women Dead After Car Collides With 18 Wheeler

Decatur County, GA- Two Decatur County women are dead after their car collided with an 18 wheeler.

Decatur County Sheriff's Deputies say it happened Saturday afternoon along U.S. 27 South, at its intersection with Woodhull and Edwards Road.

They say, the driver of the Toyota Corolla, 52-year-old Maria Corpus failed to yield to on-coming traffic and collided with the gasoline tanker.

The passenger, 40-year-old Remedious Ortiz-Garcia, died on the scene.

Corpus was air lifted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, where she later died.

The driver of the truck walked away with no injuries.

According to the Decatur County Deputy Coroner, DeWitt Phillips, the two women were related.

Garcia was from Attapulgus, GA and Corpus was from Fowlstown, GA.
