Tallahassee, FL – The US Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force (FRFTF) announced today the arrest of Nicky Lee Anderson, 41 years of age from Catawba, North Carolina for multiple counts of rape of a child.

Anderson was being sought by authorities with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office after investigators determined that Anderson raped a young victim on several different occasions. North Carolina authorities learned that Anderson fled North Carolina to the Miami Florida area. Local authorities contacted the US Marshals for assistance in locating and apprehending Anderson in Florida.

The US Marshals Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force received an urgent request for assistance this afternoon from US Marshals in North Carolina after information was received that Anderson had left the Miami area and was believed to be in Tallahassee. Task Force members immediately began searching for Anderson in Tallahassee. Within three hours of receiving the above information a Task Force Member spotted Anderson entering the Barnes and Noble’s book store at the Tallahassee Mall. For the safety of other mall patrons and the fear that Anderson could possibly be armed and dangerous, Task Force members flooded the Barnes and Noble’s and took Anderson by surprise as he was ordering coffee. After Anderson’s arrest FRFTF received indications that Anderson had travelled to Tallahassee to camp in rural Leon County. US Marshal Ed Spooner stated that the quick response from the US Marshals Task Force was the key in the removal of this dangerous fugitive from the streets of Tallahassee.
