Twenty-nine Valdosta State University students will be inducted into the Georgia Alpha chapter of the Alpha Chi National Honor Society at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, in University Center Magnolia Room No. 1.
Membership in Alpha Chi is one of the highest academic honors that may be bestowed upon a VSU student and is restricted to juniors, seniors, and graduate students who rank academically within the highest 10 percent of their respective classes. The Georgia Alpha chapter at VSU, founded in 1958, was the first chapter of Alpha Chi to be established within the state of Georgia.
The keynote speaker for this event will be noted archaeologist Jane Whitehead of the VSU Department of Modern and Classical Languages.
The event is open to the public; a brief reception will follow the ceremony.
