Valdosta Church Volunteer Accused Of Sexually Abusing Teens Out On Bond

Updated: Wed 10:08 PM, Sep 12, 2012

Valdosta, GA - September 12, 2012

A Valdosta church volunteer accused of sexually abusing at least seven teenaged boys is out of jail.

28-year-old Kenny Leonard was released on $50,000 bond Tuesday. The Valdosta Police Department believes he used his position at the church to lure the boys to his residence. Investigators say he performed non-consensual sex acts with the minors.

Leonard turned himself in to the Lowndes County Jail September 6th. Leonard is charged with multiple counts of sexual battery, child molestation and electronically furnishing obscene material to minors.

"We're asking anybody to come forward who thinks they might be a victim, and we'll look into their allegations. Some people are afraid especially in a sexual assault case because they might feel ashamed, but we can't solve a problem if we don't know about it," said Cmd. Brian Childress of the Valdosta Police Department.

Police urge families to contact them if they think their children have also been victims.
