Three Arrested in Valdosta Drug Bust

Valdosta, GA - According to Sheriff Chris Prine, on Thursday evening investigators with the Special Operations Division of the Sheriff’s Office arrested Donnell Mathis, Michael Robinson and Phillip Bradley in the parking lot of the New Valdosta Inn on West Hill Avenue in Valdosta. During a search of the persons, investigators recovered approximately 4 grams of cocaine, a small quantity of marijuana, and 40 capsules of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, commonly referred to as MDMA or Ecstasy. Donnell Mathis initially provided a false name but was later identified by his fingerprints.

Based on information obtained during the search a search warrant was obtained for a hotel room located at the Garden Villa Inn on North Ashley Street which had been rented by Donnell Mathis. This search resulted in the recovery of approximately 9.8 grams of cocaine, 286.1 grams of MDMA and a .45 caliber handgun that was determined to have been stolen from a residence within the city of Valdosta. An additional .380 caliber handgun and an AK-47 rifle were also recovered from the room.

All three persons were transported to the Lowndes County Jail where they remain. They will appear in the Magistrate Court this afternoon for an arraignment hearing where a bond will be considered. Investigators are continuing to work closely with detectives from the Valdosta Police Department regarding the recovery of the firearm.
