Valdosta, GA - 23 year-old Valdosta resident, Galen Nathaniel Coles, is currently being held in the Lowndes County Jail for Criminal Intent To Commit Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Misdemeanor Possession, and Felony Use of a Communication Device.

Valdosta Police say their narcotics detectives received a tip about a suspicious package that was delivered to a Brookdale Drive home.

"Valdosta narcotics detectives investigated the package from California and discovered that it contained high-grade medical marijuana and during their investigation, led to their arrest of Galen Coles", says Lt. Aaron Kirk with the Valdosta Police Department.

Kirk says detectives seized one point two four pounds of high-grade medical marijuana, with a street value of nearly ten thousand dollars.

"It has a higher street value because it's more potent. It's grown with more THC because it's intended for pain relief", he says.

But why would Coles have the package sent to another home; a home that's occupied, just one street over?

One of the residents of the home where the package was actually delivered didn't wish to speak on camera, but he says that he and his roommates don't know Coles. He says they were just as surprised as everyone else when narcotics officers came knocking at their door.

The resident also says the package was addressed to one of his room mates, but the spelling of their name was wrong.

Police say in investigations like this one, they usually work closely with the U.S. Postal Service to find the sender. If that person is located, police say they will contact authorities in California.
