Valdosta, GA - A man is in critical condition after being shot at a Valdosta housing complex.

"I don't think we have an offender around here that's just riding around and shooting at folks", says Valdosta's Police Chief, Brian Childress.

After three shootings in Valdosta in the last three weeks, Chief Childress says there is no evidence that any of them are connected.

24 year old Valdosta resident, Jimmy Brown is fighting for his life at South Georgia Medical Center after being shot during, what police say, was some sort of altercation Sunday night.

The shooting took place at Ora Lee West Housing Complex. Police say Brown is not a resident of the complex, but may have been visiting someone when the shooting occurred. Police say they have a possible motive and a possible suspect, but are not releasing any names at this time.

"My concern with giving too much information right now, is that it would slow down the investigation. And certainly, if we are able to identify an offender in this case, and the one at Applebee's, we don't want them fleeing the area", says Childress.

Childress also says that Brown was undergoing surgery at last check. Investigators are standing by to interview him when he wakes up.

Valdosta police have also created an anonymous tip line for people to use if they have any information. That number is (229) 293-3091.
