WANTED: Suspect In Food Mart Armed Robbery

On September 29, 2013 at approximately 10:52 PM, the Valdosta Police department responded to an armed robbery at the Omni Food Mart, 1509 Northside Drive.

Officers arrived and spoke to the owner, Vijaylcomase Patel, who advised that an African American male had entered the store with a handgun and demanded the money from the register. Patel indicated that the offender left on foot with several hundred dollars.

No one was hurt during the incident. Responding officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the offender. Detectives with the Valdosta Police Department Persons Crime Unit and a Crime Scene Technician with the Valdosta Lowndes Regional Crime Lab responded to investigate.

The offender was described as an African American male, wearing darks shorts, white tennis shoes, a gray hoodie, and a baseball cap.
