Valdosta is celebrating National Historical Preservation month by hosting free concerts downtown all week long.
It's called the Brown Bag Lunch Concert Series. For the last 20 years, the city has been putting on this event to invite it's residents to celebrate and enjoy downtown Valdosta and visit it's shops and restaurants.
At the free concert, food will be available for purchase by local restaurants. Organizers say this is the perfect opportunity to show off what the city has to offer.
"I think the community needs to know how fun and vibrant our downtown is," said Main Street Program Coordinator Ellen Hill. "We have a great downtown, it's full of great restaurants and fun things to do and great architecture, and people just need to know where the community started in the heart of Valdosta."
The concerts are Monday, May 5 through Friday, May 9. Each day a different band will perform live music from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the Lowndes County Courthouse lawn. This year’s lineup of bands is:
May 5 – Double Shot
May 6 – Backstreet Blazers
May 7 – West Virginia Slims
May 8 – Sundance Jenkins
May 9 – Jukebox
