A semi truck and a mini van collided at a busy Tallahassee intersection - and both drivers walked away.

The crash happened just before noon at the flyover where the I-10 ramp hits Capital Circle Northeast.

Deputies say the truck driver was coming off the interstate and trying to turn left on Capital Circle and the mini van was heading north on Capital Circle.

The driver of the mini-van, former FAMU quarterback Ben Dougherty, tells us he had just left Home Depot and was headed home to do some yard work when it happened.

"I saw a green light, peeked back at the plants in the back to make sure they hadn't fallen over and everything and the next thing I know I hit a semi-truck in a minivan...and it wasn't a fair fight," Dougherty said afterward.

Dougherty says today is his 34th birthday and he's grateful it wasn't worse.

The driver of the truck was not hurt.

Traffic was down to one lane for more than an hour.

Deputies are still investigating.

Tallahassee, Fla. -- It was a close call as a minivan and an 18 wheeler collided at the intersection of Captial Circle NE and the I-10 off ramp.

The driver of the van is up and walking around, although he does appear to be bleeding from his head and hands. The semi driver appears to be ok, and is talking to first responders now.

The Northbound side of Capital Circle is down to one lane at the flyover.
