CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla. -- Florida Highway Patrol is working to identify the driver of a vehicle that was abandoned following a Wakulla County crash last night.
Authorities say that a Honda Civic was traveling north on Spring Creek Highway (C.R. 365) and became airborne near the intersection of Shadeville Road (FL 61) before crashing into a tree around 10 p.m.
While approaching the intersection, the undercarriage of the vehicle struck the road causing the driver to lose control as the vehicle crossed the southbound lane and rotated counter-clockwise up an embankment.
While airborne, the vehicle struck a tree and overturned in a wooded lot along the west shoulder of Spring Creek Highway.
When Law Enforcement and Fire Rescue arrived on the scene, no driver or passengers were in or around the vehicle.
FHP says that charges are pending positive identification of the driver. The accident is believed to be alcohol related.
No further details are available at this time.
