Wakulla Co., Fla. -- A Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office deputy was attacked by a pit bull while attempting to answer a complaint about underage drinking and a vehicle partially blocking a roadway in eastern Wakulla County on Sunday, March 9, according to Sheriff Charlie Creel.

Deputy Anthony Paul suffered puncture wounds to his arm, wrist and hand after the pit bull escaped from inside the home and bit the deputy three times.

WCSO deputies approached a homeowner about the vehicle parked partially in Culbreath Lane in Crawfordville when the incident occurred.

Deputy Paul was eventually separated from the dog by Sgt. Billy Jones and Sgt. Ray Johnson. He was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for treatment and later released. The underage drinking complaint was investigated and was unfounded.

The Animal Control Unit (ACO) responded to the scene and took possession of the dog. The dog is current on its shots due to previous dealings with the ACO. The vehicle that was parked in the road left the scene eliminating the hazard. Sgt. Jeremy Johnston also investigated.
