Panacea, FL - Governor Scott vetoed a project that would provide 1.5 million dollars for dredging purposes at Wakulla County waterways.
The project would have affected Shell Point, Mashes Sands, and Spring Creek.
For the time being, access to the gulf is very difficult.
"It's also a safety issue," said Ronald Crum, owner of Crum's Mini Mall. "As these tourists or boaters or residents go up these channels they're filling in, and create a hazard and so I think economically, it would have been a big boost."
County officials say they're disappointed with the outcome. In the meantime, they're going to apply for that money again.
