The Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners has partnered with the Escambia County Housing Authority in a homeownership program to provide low interest rate financing and cash assistance to first time homebuyers.
Beginning today, September 17, 2012 funds will be available for participating lenders to make loans to first time homebuyers. Based on current market conditions the APR (annual percentage rate) is expected to be around 4.00% however, the rate may fluctuate based on market conditions. Additionally, a cash assistance grant in the amount of 4% of the loan amount (not to exceed $6,000) will be offered to help out with the down payment.
If you are a Wakulla County resident and are considering purchasing a home for the first-time, we encourage you to contact the Escambia County Housing Finance Authority to discuss your eligibility and to provide you with the participating lenders contact information. There are currently five participating lenders who are offering this program to first time homebuyers: Capital City Bank, First Federal Bank, Prime Lending, Shelter Mortgage Company, and University Lending Group.
