Wakulla, Fla. -- Wakulla County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested a 37-year-old Crawfordville man on cocaine charges after serving a search warrant at a home in Panacea on Tuesday, Feb. 18, according to Sheriff Charlie Creel.
Joseph Edward Owens was arrested following the service of the search warrant and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell, manufacture or deliver and possession of narcotics equipment.
During the execution of the search warrant, the WCSO arrested Owens without incident and discovered 11.6 grams of powder cocaine in the home as well as an electronic scale and $220 in U.S. currency. The powder tested positive for cocaine and the narcotics, scale, currency and a cellular telephone were seized and placed into evidence.
In addition, Owens was arrested for two counts of sale of cocaine and two counts of possession of cocaine with intent to sell in connection with two controlled purchase operations involving Owens and the WCSO Narcotics Unit in November 2013.
During the controlled purchases last fall, Owens sold 2.6 grams of cocaine and 1.5 grams of cocaine to law enforcement.
Owens was transported to the Wakulla County Jail without incident and faces a total of three charges of cocaine possession with intent to sell, two counts of sale of cocaine and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. His bond was set at $50,500 and he remains in the WCSO Jail.
A second subject at the scene of the search warrant was interviewed and released.
