"The Concerned Citizens of Wakulla and the Wakulla Christian Coalition set an open public forum date of July 17, 2012. Charlie Creel agreed to be there. Maurice Langston stated in an email obtained by WCTV that he would be unable to attend but would respond to questions electronically prior to the event.
"Nobody got, or will get, advance notice of questions. Mostly because of uh, bad experiences we've had giving people advanced notice of the questions," said Hugh Taylor, one of the organizers of the forum.
Creel released the following statement:
"Debates and forums are a way for the public to ask questions of a candidate so they can decide who they support. Paid campaign advertising and materials don't get a candidates platform or experience out to voters, the candidates have to be asked questions. Just like an elected sheriff you have to be accessible to the citizens."
Eyewitness News reporter Jacquie Slater has made several attempts to reach Langston and the Sheriff's Office for comment regarding this story. Monday, July 9th marked the fourth time she was told that both Langston and the current acting sheriff, Donnie Crum, were not at the office.
