Walmart Shoplifter Runs into Trouble When Car Won't Start

According to the Thomasville Police Department:

On Sunday, May 19, 2013 at approximately 9:15 P.M. Thomasville Police Officers responded to Walmart in reference to a shoplifting.

Upon arrival the officers spoke with employees who stated that a male had left the store with a shopping cart full of items without paying. The employees stated that they identified themselves as security and at that the male pulled a knife and began to swing it at them.

The male then ran to a vehicle parked in the parking lot and attempted to leave however, the vehicle would not start. The male at that time fled on foot from the area. A look out and description was given to other officers.

The suspect identified as David Mathis was later apprehended on U.S. Hwy 19 South by the Thomas County Sheriff’s Department and Turned over to Thomasville Police department for questioning and further investigation.
