Sex Education

Several Democratic lawmakers say health
education should include information on contraception and sexually
transmitted diseases.
As part of their health curriculum, Florida schools are required
to teach students to abstain from sex and that there are negative
consequences to getting pregnant.
Beyond that, they're not required to teach students anything
about sex at all.
Under a measure that legislators will consider later this year,
public school sex education classes would have to have a more
comprehensive curriculum.
The bill's backers say the measure is also needed to standardize
what children are being taught about sex.
