Secretary of State Kurt Browning says
he has ordered county election officials to submit signature
validations for citizen initiatives on paper because of glitches in
the state's electronic reporting system.
Each petition drive must meet a February first deadline to get
more than 610,000 signatures of registered voters verified by
county supervisors of election to get on the November ballot.
Six initiatives -- if they get enough signatures -- already have
been cleared for the ballot by the Florida Supreme Court. But
several others have yet to undergo review by the justices. That
could be done after the deadline if they get enough signatures.
