Florida is receiving good marks on an American Lung Association report card that measures how states are
doing in curbing tobacco use after boosting spending on
anti-tobacco programs and banning smoking in most public places.
The Lung Association gave Florida a C for tobacco
Florida also received a B on smoke free air, because it
bans smoking at nearly all workplaces.
But the group gave the state an F on its cigarette tax.
Florida's cigarette tax is at 34 cents a pack. That's is well below
the national average of $1.11.
The group says the state should raise the tax -- perhaps by as
much as a dollar.

Tax Tax Tax... Just ban the sell of cigarettes! Or perhaps require a prescription! And smokers should pay (much) higher rates for health care!
