School officials are notifying University
of Central Florida students that one of their classmates has been
diagnosed with bacterial meningitis.
Christopher Taylor was admitted to a hospital with symptoms
earlier this week. Doctors confirmed the results yesterday.
Health officials are giving antibiotics to students considered
to be at risk for the disease or those who had close contact with

last year. State universities are considering requiring all
incoming students to be vaccinated for meningitis. Currently only
students living in campus housing are required to have the vaccine.
