MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) -- Police in suburban Atlanta say two people who told authorities a man fell asleep on their couch and later died have been charged in his death.
Cobb County police spokesman Dana Pierce says authorities were called to a house in Marietta Tuesday and found 33-year-old Gharri Nicholas Lawson dead.
Pierce says 36-year-old Terry Louis Thomas and 43-year-old Danielle Matzkow Darby told police they tried waking Lawson and realized he was dead. Pierce says investigators determined Lawson was drugged and the two planned to rob him of his jewelry.
Pierce says the two are charged with murder during the commission of a felony and drug charges.
Pierce says Darby is being held at the Cobb County jail and Thomas was arrested Tuesday in Flint, Michigan.
It's unclear if they have attorneys.
