OAKLAND PARK, Fla. (AP) -- Authorities say a woman was struck and
killed by a Tri-Rail train in Broward County.
The Broward Sheriff's Office reports that the woman, who has not
been identified, was hit Thursday afternoon in Oakland Park.
Witnesses told authorities that the woman did not appear to try to
get out of the way of the oncoming train.
The southbound train was carrying 150 passengers and traveling
at 40 miles per hour when it hit the woman.
The busy intersection was closed to traffic for about an hour
and a half.
