Wildfires Burn in Southeast Georgia

April 26

The National Weather Service says several wildfires continue in Southeast Georgia. The main wildfire continues in Ware County, and wildfires in our coverage area are continuing near Dupont in Clinch County.

The Clinch County wildfire is contained; however, visibility restrictions will occur near the fire and possibly along U.S. Highway 84 near Dupont.

Motorists should prepare for rapid changes in visibility and use only low-beam headlights in smoke. Periodic road closures are possible. Residents are urged to follow advice of local authorities.

The fire has now consumed 61,000 or more acres and is 50 percent contained. They estimate to have it contained by Monday.
