JUPITER, Fla. (AP) -- The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating a boating crash that killed one diver and injured another near Jupiter Inlet.
The boat struck 26-year-olds Andrew Harris and Nicole Kapfer Sunday as they snorkeled with a group of people. Harris was flown to St. Mary's Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries. Kapfer suffered less severe injuries and was released from the hospital.
The Palm Beach Post reports that it is unclear yet whether the divers were using the flag required by state law to alert boats to their presence.
A Florida bill that would make these flags easier to spot was passed this spring and is awaiting the governor's signature.
