Tallahassee - Last summer, the city commission approved the FAMU Way Extension project. City leaders say this will enhance transportation and serve as a huge community investment.
Thursday, the city hosted a meeting with residents in the area, that the construction would affect. Essentially several property owners would have to consent to being bought out.
The focus of the meeting was to keep the public aware of what was happening and address any concerns.
Rev. Marian Bellamy Gibbons is a resident of Tallahassee, she says, "I do like the fact that they had to make a change and they did keep us informed of that and brought us back to the table again and I think that's important for citizens like me."
Michelle Bono with the City of Tallahassee says, "We went door to door to every property owner whose property may be needed as part of this proposed modification to the route."
