Local farmers took part in a training session for the Farmer's Market Nutrition Program.
The event was held at FAMU's Center for Viticulture and Small Fruit Development. It went over the Federal guidelines for FMNP and certified farmers so they could accept food coupons. The program helps provide fresh fruits and vegetables to families in need.
"Healthy eating, healthy eating habits and exercise of course too are all linked to preventative strategies when dealing with different health problems," says Jennifer Taylor of the Small Farm Programs.
The program is done annually. Some farmers markets that accept FMNP are located at Lake Ella, Blair Stone Road and Innovation Park
