Tallahassee, FL - No automated phone systems or websites here. Anyone in our area with any issues with any federal agency has the opportunity to speak with someone face-to-face. U.S. Senator Marco Rubio is hosting mobile office hours.

"The economy is based on nature. It is not going to function if nature is not functioning well." Says, local resident Deborah Keller.

Keller is the strategic relationships director for The Nature Conservancy. The group works with communities, and state, and federal leaders to advance conservation measures. Keller had the chance to sit down to discuss their efforts and concerns with U.S. Senator Marco Rubio's staff.

She told staff members, "There are some very, very valuable programs out there; the Farm Bill, the Land and Water Conservation Fund, the Restore Act. They're all opportunities for us to make good decisions about the environment."

Senator Rubio held mobile office hours Wednesday at Leon County's B.L. Perry Library and in Wakulla County. Staff met one-on-one with residents needing help with issues dealing with Medicare, the IRS, or any federal agency.

Staff members say most of the people coming to the mobile office in Tallahassee had questions mainly on social security and immigration issues.

Beshoy Iskander came in to ask question about immigration problems he says he's having. "I came along to fix my issue I have with the Immigration. They were very helpful. I gave them all the information I have, and they said they were going to get back with me as soon as possible."

The regional director for Rubio's office, Brian Mimbs, says veterans benefits is also a prevailing issue. He says there are backlogs for two or three years.

Mimbs says they have been able to troubleshoot for veterans in the region. He says, "In some cases, it's just that they're stuck in a system that hasn't responded and we're just hopefully giving that extra nudge to make sure that the system works on their behalf."
