New Year's Resolutions Lead to Spike at Gyms

The first day of the new year is almost over. And a lot of people are already getting on those new year's resolutions.

One of the more popular resolutions is hitting the gym. And some gyms like Gold's say those resolutions have lead to a spike in memberships this month.

"I would say this time of year, January, New Year's is going to be the biggest jump of the year for us. You're going to see more people come in now than you would the rest of the year," says Quinn Frier of Gold's Gym.

Frier estimates about 40 percent of the gyms members will sign up over the next two months

Calories in; calories out. It works only this way. A consistent intense exercise routine is a huge help but it has to be something you will stick with. Do resistance training (either body weight or regular weights) and then add some type of aerobic routine. Consistency is crucial. Make it as much a part of your daily routine as eating and sleeping. Oh, and watch what and how much you eat.
