Students at Hawks Rise Elementary got a glimpse into the future today (3-9-12)
German engineering students brought over a solar powered car. They've been driving it across the country and the world. The German students built the car themselves. It took several months to complete. And it can reach a top speed of 70 miles per hour, but cruises best at about 30.
"The cars are passing us. You can see it giving thumbs out of the window or they have some smart phones making some videos, using their hands or using their horns so normally they are all very supportive of us, " says Tim Skerra, German Engineering Student.
Skerra says they drove from California to Tallahassee in the car. He says the car can get around three hundred miles off its batteries before it needs to be charged.
