The Tallahassee Community College Fire Academy is saving lives by scrubing down one car at a time.

The academy washed cars for donations to the North Florida Burn Foundation and the Red Cross.

It's the 13th year in a row the academy has held the event. Over the years, the academy has raised 15,000 dollars.

Xzavier Dukes, a Fire Academy student spoke about the impact of the event. "I'm always one to care for people and help people out, so this is a great way to give back, like I said, it's free. It's a car wash just to show our appreciation, " said Dukes

The rest of the donations go to a cause close to the classes heart.

Last year, the rest of the monies paid for a Cancer patient's chemotherapy.
